VICTOR LAFAY WINS THE SECOND STAGE AND ADAM YATES REMAINS AS LEADER
- As on the opening day, the Basque fans have taken to the streets of Álava and Gipuzkoa to celebrate the passage of the gala round through Euskadi.
Álava and Gipuzkoa have turned to cycling during the second stage of the Tour de France, a route of 208.9 kilometres between Vitoria-Gasteiz and Donostia / San Sebastián. It has been a very exciting day for all cycling lovers, and for the general public, who have been able to live this great event up close.

Finally, Victor Lafay (Cofidis) has won the second day of the Tour de France after a heart attack arrival. The winner has received the trophy that accredits him as stage winner from Eider Mendoza, Deputy General of Gipuzkoa, while Xabier Ezeizabarrena, President of the General Assemblies of Gipuzkoa, has given him the green jersey that accredits him as leader of the points classification. Adam Yates (UAE-Team Emirates) maintains the lead of the race and Eneko Goia, Mayor of Donostia / San Sebastián, has given him the yellow jersey.


Moreover, Neilson Powles (EF Education - EasyPost) has retained the polka dot jersey, which accredits him as the best climber, hand in hand Martin Ibabe, Councillor for Sports, Citizen Security and Civil Protection of the City of Donostia / San Sebastián and the award of combativity given by Jon Insausti, Councillor of Basque and Culture of the City of Donostia / San Sebastián.

And finally, the Environment Deputy, José Ignacio Asensio, has delivered the white jersey, best young, to Tadej Poga?ar (UAE-Team Emirates).
