ADAM YATES WINS THE BILBAO - BILBAO STAGE AND IS THE FIRST LEADER OF THE TOUR DE FRANCE 2023

• Basque fans took to the streets of Bizkaia to celebrate the Tour de France passing through the Basque Country.
  

Bizkaia has thrown itself into cycling during the first stage of the Tour de France. It was a very exciting day for all cycling lovers and for the general public, who were able to experience this great event from close up.

Finally, Adam Yates (UAE-Team Emirates) has won the opening day of the Tour de France, Bilbao - Bilbao, a route of 182 kilometres on roads of Bizkaia. The winner received the trophy accrediting him as stage winner from Juan Mari Aburto, Mayor of Bilbao, while Elixabete Etxanobe, Provincial Councillor for Public Administration and Institutional Relations, presented him with the yellow jersey identifying him as the race leader.

He was also presented with the green jersey and the combativity jersey by Amaia Arregi, Councillor for Citizen Safety of the Bilbao City Council and Cristina Múgica, Director General of Territorial Competitiveness and Tourism of the Provincial Council of Bizkaia, respectively.

Neilson Powless (EF Education - EasyPost) won the polka dot jersey for best climber, which was awarded by Ainara Basurko, Provincial Councillor for Economic Promotion.

And Tadej Pogacar (UAE - Team Emirates) was awarded the white jersey for best young rider by Nora Abete, Councillor for Mobility and Sustainability of the Bilbao City Council.
