DONOSTIA/SAN SEBASTIAN CELEBRATES 100 DAYS WITH A GIANT JERSEY AND THE ARRIVAL OF THE TROPHY TOUR

  • Christian Prudhomme closed his trip to Euskadi by visiting the giant jersey located in the city hall of the capital and inaugurating the arrival of the 'Trophy Tour' at the tourist office on the Boulevard, accompanied by Eneko Goia and Markel Olano.

The visit of Christian Prudhomme, General Director of the Tour de France, to the capital of Gipuzkoa has put the finishing touch to his tour of the Basque Country as part of the celebration of the 100 days until the start of the Grand Départ Pays Basque 2023. With Eneko Goia, Mayor of Donostia / San Sebastian, and Markel Olano, Deputy General of Gipuzkoa, as great hosts, the director of the Tour de France took part in both the premiere of a giant jersey outside the town hall, on the façade facing Ijentea Street, and in the premiere of the 'Trophy Tour' at the Tourist Office on the Boulevard.

In front of the trophy, the Donostialdea Bizikletan cycling club handed over two jerseys to Christian Prudhomme, hand in hand with the mayor and the deputy general. Afterwards, the three authorities approached the Kursaal, where they enjoyed the 'Ongi eTOURri' animation shown on the screens outside the conference centre and auditorium.

‘Trophy Tour’

This trophy, which symbolises the arrival of the Tour de France in the Basque Country, was already received by both leaders on 26 July on the Kursaal bridge, on the uninterrupted bicycle route from Paris to the Basque Country by Ziortza Villa and Julian Sánz, ultra-distance runners. The 'witness' will be exhibited in what will be its new location, the Tourist Office located at number 8 Boulevard, until 23 April, so that it can be visited and enjoyed by the public, when it is expected to be transferred to Vitoria-Gasteiz.
